“Annual Children’s Christmas Party”
December 8 @ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
The “Annual Children’s Christmas Party” for the children in Queen Valley will be held on Saturday, December 8th in our Activity Hall. Be part of the only Christmas that some community children will have by donating to and participating in our annual Children’s Christmas Party. Our event combines games, Christmas cookies and other treats, crafts, gift bags, and pictures with the best Santa and Mrs. Claus imaginable (Al and Jean Mahling, site #159). All of the goodies are prepared by our volunteers and the crafts and games are manned by our volunteers. The funding and gifts come solely from our residents. In 2017 eighty-four children and their parents, grandparents, and other family members attended. This is truly one of the highlights of December, not only for the children but also for our donors and residents.
If you will be returning before the Children’s Christmas Party, we would appreciate donations of toys that are new and non-gender specific. Books for little children are acceptable but it is hard to predict the interest of older ones. Stuffed animals are always a treat for the young ones. As a guideline for ages of children that attended this past year, twenty-six were 3 years of age or under, twelve were 4-6 years of age, fourteen were 7-10 years old, nineteen were from 11-14, and thirteen were 15 and older. Our children of previous years are growing up and new little ones are arriving. If you would like to contribute but will not be in the Resort until after December, you may send a check to the Resort Office to the attention of Terry Sullivan made payable to Children’s Christmas Party. Thank you for your past and future support of this incredible annual event for our community children. If you have questions feel free to contact Resort resident Terry Sullivan, site #155, coordinator, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 218-770-9573.
The Children’s Christmas Party Fishing Pond activity was a huge success last year at the party and will be continued this year. If you have good used match box toys, small toys, books, or small children’s items in clean condition (no clothing) they would be greatly appreciated to use in the Fishing Pond. Karen Thompson, site #110, coordinator for the Fishing Pond activity.
